Zlatko Piskulich, MD, is a Costarican board-certified ophthalmologist who has devoted his career to refractive and retina surgery.
Clinica Visualiza offers perhaps the most sophisticated technology of any laser center for diagnostic evaluation of our patients. Dr. Piskulich makes it a point to meet personally with each patient to review all diagnostic findings, discuss options, and answer questions. Clinica Visualiza offers the latest in custom LASIK, with access to the Esiris Schwind and Visx S4 IR lasers. With this technology, the minute optical details of each patient's eyes are measured and corrected with the highest accuracy.
Dr. Piskulich also offers the all-laser procedure called IntraLase, in which a laser is used to create the LASIK flap. This results in a more accurate and safer procedure. These advanced technologies, applied with Clinica Visualiza’s commitment to precision, meticulousness and attention to detail, provide each client the best that technology and vision correction care that can be offered.
The laser system selection is based on the individual patient's eye. The wavefront systems provide the advanced Custom Wavefront LASIK, which evaluates each patient's subtle optical corneal factors and creates a unique corneal map that is programmed into the Excimer laser. The laser can then correct the corneal curvature in a customized way that maximizes precision. In addition to traditional and wavefront LASIK, Dr. Piskulich offers "Blended vision" for correcting presbyopia ( people over age 40 who need reading glasses), and INTACS, removable corneal rings to correct patients with keratoconus.
In addition to LASIK, Dr. Zlatko Piskulich offers Insertable Contact Lenses (Verisyse), Intacs (removable corneal inserts for keratoconus) and No-Stitch Cataract Surgery with AcrySof ReSTOR multifocal lens, and IQ monofocal lenses.
Dr. Piskulich also practices retina surgery for retinal detachment with sutureless vitrectomy, diabetic retinopathy, macular hole and epiretinal membrane.
About the Clinica Visualiza Institute
Dr. Zlatko Piskulich's practice and surgery center are located in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. For LASIK surgery he uses the newest wavefront laser technology where the laser is specifically programmed to correct subtle optical irregularities in the eye, which maximizes precision.
Clinica VIsualiza`s mission is to give the best possible ophthalmological attention, medically and surgically, to all its patients.
Trip to Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a beautiful country with the best ophthalmological attention you can get. Our goal is to organize a round trip that incudes airfare, airport pick up, hotel accommodations, ophthalmolgical evaluation, tests, LASIK surgery, post op check ups and tours to choose from. All for one single fee.

About the LASER
The ESIRIS is a state-of-the-art, sixth generation excimer laser that integrates the entire technological and applicational know-how of SCHWIND
- With a repetition rate of 200 Hz and a very small spot size of 0.8 mm, the ESIRIS provides ideal conditions for highly precise treatments.
- The ultra fast eye tracker (330 Hz) follows eye movements within the world’s shortest reaction time of only a few milliseconds.
- In combination with an ingenious algorithm of the SCHWIND Custom Ablation Manager software, the para-Gaussian spot provides for a very smooth corneal surface.
- The ESIRIS can be used for multiple applications – from aspherical standard corrections to corneal and ocular wavefront treatments.
- Available as optional equipment on the ESIRIS, online pachymetry further increases treatment safety. With the pachymetric procedure using Optical Coherence Pachymetry (OCP), simple, exact and contactless measurements of central corneal thickness during the entire treatment process can be performed.
- The working distance between the laser arm and the patient eye, at 295 millimeters, offers the operator optimal work conditions.
- With the optionally available swiveling patient bed, the ESIRIS is optimally equipped for use in combination with other medical systems.
